Sports Referee
About
Also known as umpires, judges, or arbiters, referees are responsible for presiding over a sports game and making on-the-fly decisions that enforce the sport's rules.
Their role varies hugely from sport to sport, but two things all referees have in common is their neutral point of view, and their love for the sport.
Because of their position to be able to penalize teams or individuals, referees often come in for criticism, but no one can dispute their importance to the sports they officiate: whether football or boxing, ice hockey or sailing.
