CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats - yes, you read that correctly) is a family of DNA sequences found within the genomes of bacteria and other organisms. CRISPR allows researchers to easily alter DNA sequences and modify gene functions. Engineers may work across a variety of applications, including correcting genetic defects, treating and preventing the spread of diseases, and improving crops.
