Sound design is the art and practice of creating soundtracks, most often for use in movies, television programs, commercials, theater and video games. Sound Designers combine technical and artistic skills: recording brand new foley sounds; editing previously composed audio; and composing original music and audio. Although sound design has grown in prevalence over the past 30 years, it's been used to enhance live performances for hundreds of years
