Ship carpenters, also known as shipwrights, build and repair many different types of boats: cruise ships, oil tankers, racing boats, and sail ships to name just a few.
Ship carpenters don't just work with wood; depending on the specifications of the project they may also use materials like fiberglass and aluminum.
The work of a ship carpenter includes the construction of parts and frames, structural assembly and repairs, the finishing of ship surfaces, and inspections of finished boats.
